According to the official result data, 1,79,694 candidates appeared in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of JEE Advanced 2026, of whom 56,880 qualified. The examination carried a total of 360 marks, with 180 marks each allotted to Paper 1 and Paper 2. Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry contributed equally to the overall score.

How is the JEE Advanced Score Calculated?

The aggregate score in JEE Advanced 2026 is calculated by adding the marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry across both Paper 1 and Paper 2. The examination carries a total of 360 marks, with 180 marks allotted to each paper.

Each subject carries a maximum of 120 marks, comprising 60 marks in Paper 1 and 60 marks in Paper 2. As per the official qualifying criteria, candidates are required to meet both the prescribed subject-wise cutoff and the aggregate cutoff for inclusion in the respective rank list.

What Happens After Clearing the Cutoff?

Candidates who meet the prescribed cutoff criteria become eligible for inclusion in the respective JEE Advanced 2026 rank lists. Following the declaration of results, qualified candidates can participate in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counselling process for admission to IITs and other participating institutes.

The allotment of seats will be carried out based on the candidate’s rank, category, seat availability, and preferences submitted during the counselling process. The detailed counselling schedule and admission guidelines will be released separately by JoSAA.

Candidates seeking admission to the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programme offered by IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee are also required to register for the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) 2026. The registration process is available through the official portal at cportal.jeeadv.ac.in.
