Why CBSE Result Is Coming Earlier This Year

The CBSE Class 12 result 2026 is expected nearly three weeks earlier than last year due to the board’s new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. Under this system, answer sheets are scanned and evaluated digitally by examiners on their computers, significantly reducing the time needed for evaluation, verification, and result preparation. In 2025, the CBSE 12th result was announced in the third week of May. This year it is expected by Mai 1.

New Marking System: What Has Changed

CBSE has introduced significant changes to its evaluation process in 2026:

  • On-Screen Marking (OSM): Answer sheets are now digitally scanned and evaluated on screen rather than physical paper checking, reducing errors and speeding up the process
  • Compressed evaluation cycle: The gap between exam completion and result declaration has been reduced to around 40 to 45 days compared to previous years
  • APAAR ID integration: Students with an APAAR ID will find their digital marksheet automatically available in their DigiLocker account once the result is declared

Passing Criteria for CBSE Class 12 Result 2026

  • Students must score a minimum of 33 percent in each subject, combining theory and practical or internal assessment marks
  • Students who fall short in one subject will be declared compartment and can appear for the CBSE compartment examination in July 2026
  • Students failing in more than one subject will need to repeat the year
