New Delhi, October 28, 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday asserted that his government has boosted employment opportunities in traditional as well as emerging sectors.
“Our government has taken several steps to boost employment opportunities in both traditional and emerging sectors. We have launched a number of schemes and programs to create jobs and provide training to our youth,” PM Modi said at an event in New Delhi.
The Prime Minister said that the government has focused on developing emerging sectors like renewable energy, defense, and electronics. He also said that the government has taken steps to boost employment in traditional sectors like agriculture and textiles.
“We have made significant progress in creating jobs in both traditional and emerging sectors. The unemployment rate has come down from 6.1% in 2018 to 5.8% in 2023,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister also said that the government is committed to creating more jobs in the future. He said that the government is working on a number of initiatives to boost employment in the country.
Here are some of the steps taken by the government to boost employment in traditional and emerging sectors:
- Skill India Mission: The Skill India Mission was launched in 2015 to train youth in various skills and make them employable. The mission has trained over 60 million people since its launch.
- Make in India: The Make in India initiative was launched in 2014 to promote manufacturing in the country. The initiative has attracted over $100 billion in foreign investment and created millions of jobs.
- Start-up India: The Start-up India initiative was launched in 2016 to promote entrepreneurship in the country. The initiative has provided support to over 100,000 start-ups and created millions of jobs.
- Atmanirbhar Bharat: The Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative was launched in 2020 to make India self-reliant in various sectors. The initiative has focused on developing domestic manufacturing and reducing imports.
The government’s efforts to boost employment have shown results. The unemployment rate has come down and millions of jobs have been created in recent years. However, there is still a long way to go. The government needs to continue its efforts to create more jobs and make the country employment-rich.
